64 bit OS on Virtual PC
Okay, Virtual PC should be emulating a Pentium III, but why are both Windows Server 2008 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux reporting an Intel Core 2 CPU? So I thought, let’s find out if the OS can really work with a 64-bit enabled processor.
So as both operating systems are reporting an Intel Core 2 processor (take a close look at the reported MHz!) which is 64-bit enabled, I thought let’s give it a shot with the 64bit version of Windows Server 2008 RC1. This version also has the beta of Hyper-V on board, to which I was very curious. But this adventure ended quite soon as I got this screen displayed:
Of course this won’t work, the host OS is running in 32bit mode, and it can’t run in two modes simultaneously. I’m curious what would have happened if Virtual PC was running on a 64bit OS instead of a 32bit now…..

Just got images identical to that, and my host PC is a Core 2 Duo E6300 (which is 64 bit)
